Eric Parry is to give a lecture, entitled 'Collisions and Collaborations', at Art & Architecture, The Gallery, 77Cowcross Street, London EC1, on 30th January 2007 at 6.30 pm.

Eric Parry Architects has a long track record of dialogue with artists and sculptors of international standing including Anish Kapoor, Richard Deacon, Stephen Cox and Joel Shapiro. Eric's talk will explore the nature of the creative dialogue between art and architecture in the context of an urban age. Using as a starting point the territories shared by the disciplines of Art and Architecture, Eric will also discuss their differing agendas and interpretations and how the schism between them can be problematic when one crosses into the territory of the other.

The precise nature of the relationship between Art and Architecture has long been a contentious issue, due in large part to unresolved questions regarding the meaning of modern Art. Eric investigates the ways in which both disciplines approach the role and nature of abstraction, autonomy, materiality, narrative, originality, scale and the impact of temporal context.
